In John Massey’s lifetime ambition to make flowers generally available regardless of the depth of a gardener’s pocket, salvias fit the bill. Emma Bossons opted for the striking bluish-purple variety called Salvia ‘Amistad’, knowing as she did so, that her chosen variety would rest comfortably on a white ground.
